Intro to Rockstar
Rockstar is a transfer based modern approach to bidding that addresses the weaknesses in 2/1 and Standard American biddings systems. We call the system Modern American and feel it is a successor to Standard American and a better alternative than adopting 2/1. It is a 5-card majors, strong (15-17) NT based system. We rely on conventions that are easy to remember with communication and valuation based on scientific prinicples (instead of an 'experts' gut-feel or card-sense).
Unique elements:
Strong Hand bidding
- Colorado 2♣, the 1 1/2 NT opener. Balanced hand with 18-19 HCP
- Mile High 2♦, the strong bid. Hands with 23+ points or 9+ quick tricks
Major Openings
- Compressed Bergen for 4-card major suit raises
- Non-Forcing NT and an artificial (Forcing) 2♣ (Extensile) response to major suit openings
Minor Openings
- TACO 1 Club, 1♣ is 12-14 balanced hand or opening hand with 5+
